So I joined the Holiday Gift Knit-Along hosted by the extremely talented Alison. I think it's a really cool idea. It's fun to see what other's are working on and a great way to keep you motivated to get the projects done!
I have a lot of knitting to get done between now and Christmas.
1) Will's Circle Sweater - Toby from Rowan Junior Knits
2) Mittens for Will and Davis
3) Hat for my Brother Justin
4) Baby Bobbi Bear for Davis
Here are a few things that I have finished.
Davis' MinnowKnits Bow Wow Sweater
I love this sweater pattern. It's so easy to knit up and goes really fast. I've knitted this piece in the past for my nephew Will when he was a wee-little one. It was adorable - so I needed to make one for his sister Davis. I used Cascade 220 - Superwash in color 843. This is great stuff. I love it because it's nice to work with and my sister can just toss it in the washing machine with no worries! You see the last time I knit this sweater for Will I used 100% wool and my sis put it in the washer/dryer and we all know what happens then...I was crushed. She was crushed. So no more handmade sweaters made with wool for her kids at least until they are all grown up and my sister isn't chasing around toddlers:)
The second item I finished this weekend was a scarf to match a hat I made last month for Davis.
I found this cool yarn at the Creative Stitch in Cohasett, MA and I wanted to make a funky hat for her Tahki Filatura Di Crosa Baby - Bon Bon Yarn .
But the yarn wasn't holding it's shape no matter what type of hat I made. It was stretching and flopping. It looked plain silly. One day I was at the Wool Basket in Duxbury, MA and they had a sample scarf there that used the Bon Bon with two other fibers. So I decided to try the hat with some other yarns - I grabbed some sale yarn - love when you get a bargain!! There was this lovely soft yarn called Marks & Kattens Dream. It's made with a lot of different synthectics - but I loved it! Sooo soft. I also grabbed a bright vibrant red Mohair. So here is the hat I whipped up.
It so fun! My sister said she gets a lot of folks asking her where she got the hat.
My sister thought Davis might like a pretty scarf. I had a lot of yarn left over from the hat project so I decided to put it to good use and make her a scarf. I'm not sure if the two will look fab together - might be tooo much. But the colors are great and it's fun! Here is the cool scarf with fringe and all!!
I love the happy colors! The bon bon yarn makes cutes little puffs! It's cool stuff.
